Breeders Cup Winner First Signing For Twin Hills Stud

Monday, 3 April 2017: A brilliant two year old and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Bobby’s Kitten stands at Kirsten Rausing’s Lanwades Stud in the UK.
He will be the first son of Kitten’s Joy, the perennial champion American turf sire, to stand at stud in Australia.
“Bobby’s Kitten is an excellent prospect” said Twin Hils owner Olly Tait.
“He was a top two year old, a Grade 1 winning sprinter at three, has an outstanding pedigree and is a magnificent looking horse with strength, scope and quality”.
Bobby’s Kitten won six races, all on turf, amassing $US1,424,417 prize money.
As a 2YO he won twice from three starts including G3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont by 6.5 lengths before a placing in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.
The highlight of his career came as a three year old, with a victory in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita, coming from last to defeat an elite field of turf sprinters including No Nay Never and Undrafted, who went on to beat Brazen Beau in the G1 Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot.
Bobby’s Kitten’s sire Kitten’s Joy has been champion turf sire in America five times.
Kitten’s Joy is by El Prado, the sire of Medaglia d’Oro and Artie Schiller, and is providing an excellent outcross for Danehill line mares with the Golden Slipper winner Vancouver and the brilliant Astern being examples of the El Prado/Danehill cross.
The dam of Bobby’s Kitten, Celestial Woods, has produced three stakes winners by Kitten’s Joy. She comes from the outstanding family of champions such as Paradise Creek, Theatrical and David Junior.
Olly Tait recently purchased Twin Hills at Cootamundra in NSW from Sheikh Mohammed.
“Twin Hills has been the home to some terrific stallions such as Snippets and Rubiton. Bobby’s Kitten has all the credentials to follow in their footsteps,” Tait said.
Bobby’s Kitten will stand at a fee of $16,500 inc GST.
