Big Brown Premiership Benefits Jockey Trust
Tuesday, 27 July 2010: Rawiller extended his lead on nearest rival Corey Brown to 11 with two metropolitan meetings remaining this week in the 2009/10 season.
"If Brownie can catch me from here, then he deserves the title," Rawiller said. "I never thought I'd win a premiership, especially in Sydney, and although it hasn't sunk in because I haven't won it yet, if I get there it will be a dream come true."
Vinery Stud joined in the arm wrestle between Rawiller and Brown by offering to donate a $10,000 purse to a most worthy cause.
"Jockeys are the unfashioned heroes of our sport,' Vinery's Adam White said.
“They go out every day and risk injury to earn a living, a fact which is often forgotten in the high fashion of racing.'
Big Brown, the winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes by a combined margin of 10-lens is due to arrive at Vinery Stud on August 16.
"We are all getting very excited about his arrival. The reports are very good about him,” White said.
"Breeders have ensured that he gets a great book of mares in his first season which should give him every opportunity."
