Sheikh Supports Eagle Mountain
Wednesday, 18 August 2010:  | | Eagle Mountain | Sheikh Mohammed, the Minister of Land Affairs in the United Arab Emirates, raced Eagle Mountain during his internationally successful race career and has retained a 60% interest in the champion Irish 3YO of 2007.
His mares bound for the G1 Hong Kong Cup winner at Brighthill Farm include Futoon (Elusive Quality), Neraan (Elusive Quality) and Al Yamama (Fusaichi Pegasus).
Futoon is a daughter of the Australian G1 winner Flitter (Bluebird) while Neraan is a half sister to three time G1 winner Barely a Moment.
Al Yamama is from the G1 winner Piavonic, making her a half sister to Von Costa De Hero (Encosta de Lago).
Eagle Mountain, a son of Rock Of Gibraltar, has also n attracted some of New Zealand's best mares.
Eagle Mountain will cover the dual G1 winners Bazelle (Zabeel) and It's My Sin (Success Express) along with black type mares Country Rose (Centaine), Penny Arcade (Straussbrook) and Winds Of Conquest (Quest for Fame) to name just a few.
Brighthill Farm's Nick and Anne–Marie King are currently syndicating a 40% interest in the horse to guarantee his long-term future in New Zealand after arriving at the Tauwhare farm two months ago ago.
“He arrived in race fit condition and in the time he has been here, he has really started to let down well,” said Nick King.
Eagle Mountain competed at Group level in the UK, Ireland, France, US, Hong Kong and UAE and achieved earnings of over US$2.4 million.
He won the G2 Curragh Beresford Stakes (1600m) at two; the G2 Royal Whip (2000m) at three and at four claimed the G1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m) and the G3 Joel Stakes (1600m) at Newmarket in a Rowley Mile track record time of 1.34.07.
He was also G1 placed in the English Derby, Irish Derby, Champion Stakes and Breeders' Cup and he was named champion Irish Middle Distance 3YO.
He is out the Darshaan mare Masskana, who is also the noted G1 dam of the Champion French 2YO, Sulk.
Masskana's sire Darshaan is a proven broodmare sire of the likes of High Chaparral and his is one of the most sought after distaff lines in the world.
