Good Double For Good Journey
Tuesday, 10 August 2010: At Flemington Miles Above, one of the biggest horses in training in Victoria, won over 2000m, followed by a Cranbourne success on Sunday by Mr Grisowld over 1500m.
Miles Above was backing up a week after he posted an off the front victory in South Australia at Morphettville and appears to be a progressive stayer for his trainer Denis Daffy.
The win was the bay's third this campaign and sixth overall, a good result for a horse who was offered for sale on three different occasions.
The first time Miles Above went through the ring was at the Inglis Summer Thoroughbred sale where he was knocked down for $4000 to Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.
He was then reofferred at the June Weanling sale and Little Plains Stud, Victoria, paid $10,000.
Eight months later Daffy purchase him at the Melbourne Premier II yearling sale for $20,000.
Miles Above has since banked more than $145,000.
Miles Above is a full brother to GI WATC Derby and WA Oaks winner Grand Journey out of Grand Prospect (Flying Spur), a sister to the G3 Tesio Stakes winner Joy of Flight (Flying Spur).
Mr. Griswold (ex Dance the Breeze by Dance Floor) chalked up his third career win at just his fifth start, to make it three wins in a row.
