Frank Tagg and the Arch of Gold Syndicate have had much enjoyment out of the Marscay mare Circles of Gold, who was good enough to win the Group One AJC Australian Oaks before retiring to what has been a most fruitful career at stud.

Circles of Gold has had eight foals to race for six winners led by globe-trotting champions Elvstroem and Haradasun as well as stakes-placed Hveger, the dam of last season's high class three year-old filly Valdemoro.

"Circles of Gold has proven herself one of, if not THE elite mare in Australia in recent years,” said Coolmore Farm Manager Peter O'Brien.

“To produce two champions in Haradasun and Elvstroem is a remarkable feat in itself and it is one of course that we are particularly proud of with both having been raised here at Coolmore Australia, so we are delighted that Frank Tagg, Garry Moffitt and Frank Meduri have chosen High Chaparral as a mating for 'Circles'.”

High Chaparral finished second to only Fastnet Rock in the Second Season Sires division last season with 16 winners of $5.2 million prizemoney including dual Group One winners Shoot Out and Monaco Consul, plus Cox Plate hero So You Think.

“High Chaparral has obviously made an incredible start to his stud career in this part of the world and we are very fortunate to be able to offer Australian breeders an opportunity to use a horse of his calibre,” said O'Brien.

“I believe that it is a very suitable mating for the mare and it is exciting to think what she might produce by him and in any case, we hope that we can continue to reward the faith that Frank (Tagg), Garry (Moffitt) and Frank (Meduri) have shown in Coolmore Australia.

“Certainly it is an exciting time for them with Haradasun producing quality stock in great numbers and we are of course looking forward to seeing his yearlings at the sales next year."

The Circles of Gold family is one that has earned the utmost respect on the worldwide stage with Coolmore securing Haradasun to stand at stud before his memorable win in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot as well as his close relation Starspangledbanner, who is currently campaigning in Europe under the care of Aidan O'Brien.

High Chaparral stands for the first time in Australia this spring at a fee of $88,000.
