Discorsi Joins Yarradale Roster

Monday, 23 August 2010: A sibling to the Australian-bred sire Oratorio, Discorsi is one of only three 2YO stake winning two year old sons of dual hemisphere stud success Galileo to stand at stud in Australia in 2010.

Darley has recognised the potential of Galileo as a commercial sire of sires by standing his Group 1 winning two year olds Teofilo and New Approach.

Discorsi, winner of the Listed Gibson Carmichael Stakes at Flemington, boasts an aristocratic pedigree and race track credentials to make a successful sire as his dam line is identical to that of exciting Western Australian sire Oratorio.

Yarradale Stud is also standing the former Darley sire Musket, following the transfer from NSW of the impeccably bred son of Redoute's Choice.

Musket, a $2.5 million yearling when sold at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, was based at Darley Australia in NSW in 2009 and was well supported in his initial year of service with an outstanding book which included eight stakes winning mares and 12 dams of stakes winners.

The half brother to triple Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva was a versatile winner from 1200 to 1600 metres, his career highlight being an emphatic win in the 2008 G2 Shannon Stakes at Rosehill beating subsequent dual Stradbroke Handicap winner Black Piranha.

Musket replicates his sire Redoute's Choice by carrying Natalma, one of the world's most influential mares, in his pedigree along with her illustrious stallion making dam Almahmoud.

Almahmoud also produced Natalma's half sister Cosmah, the dam of Turn-To sire line influence Halo, who appears as the grandsire of Vinery Stud's champion 2YO sire More Than Ready and another Yarradale Stud newcomer, the Southern Halo stallion De Troy.

Musket, out of the imported Riverman mare Tugela, is bred on the highly sought after Northern Dancer/Riverman cross, as are the successful Australian Group 1 producing sires Carnegie, Spinning World and Brief Truce.

Musket heads the Yarradale roster on a fee of $10,000 plus GST while Discorsi is being introduced on a fee of $5000 plus GST.

Yarradale Stud also stands Senstov Street, Citidancer, De Troy, Scandal Keeper, Heritage and Medal Of Honour and also is associated with Rocliffe Stud and Saharri Park in offering Spielmeister and Pricelessly to WA breeders.

Spielmeister stands at Rocliffe Stud and Pricelessly is based at Saharri Park.
