Wealth Princess suffered the tendon injury in a track gallop at Freedman's Rye facility on Saturday morning. Scans later revealed a torn tendon which will require the mare to have a lengthy spell.

It is expected the five-year-old will need anywhere between six to eight months recovery time in the paddock before she can return to light work.

Raced by prominent owner Sean Buckley, CEO of Ultra Tune, Wealth Princess will receive state of the art treatment at Buckley's property his bid for the San Luis mare to make a successful return to racing next year.

The tendon injury is disappointing news for connections who had high hopes for the New Zealand mare following her promising results during the Queensland Winter carnival.

Now trained by Lee Freedman, Wealth Princess was to be aimed at the Group 2 Salinger Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 30 and the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) a week later on November 6.

A trip to Western Australia was then likely to follow where she would start in the $750,000 Group 2 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot on November 27.

Still under the care of Brent Gillovic last campaign, Wealth Princess recorded a Group 1 placing in her first Australian preparation when runner up behind Melito in the Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm in June.

She also won the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) two starts prior.

Her success over the Queensland Winter Carnival added to an already impressive career record which commenced in New Zealand.

Wealth Princess had won five of her first seven starts and was also Group 1 placed when a close second in the Waikato Draught Sprint (1400m) behind Lord Tavistock.

The consistent mare currently boasts a career record of six wins and four minor placings from only 11 starts.
