Snowden With Strong Hand In Furious
Friday, 3 September 2010: | | Parables | Last start Silver Shadow winner Parables has been installed as favourite after her determined victory in the Group 3 fillies event at Warwick Farm on August 21.
The three-year-old endured a horror run which included a nasty check at the 200m yet still motored home to edge out the John O'Shea Solar Charged.
Trainer Peter Snowden had initially thought the 1200m would be too short for Parables against a host of fillies proven over the sprint distance.
Parables looks set to benefit from the additional 200m of the Furious Stakes as she works her way through the Princess Series which culminates with the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 2.
Although Parables appears hard to beat on her last start victory, one of her main rivals could be stablemate Divorces who resumes on Saturday.
The Domesday filly has always shown promise and potential to get over a trip which was highlighted by her Group 1 placing behind stablemate Skilled in the Champagne Stakes last autumn.
Divorces will likely be seen in Melbourne after Saturday as she heads toward the Thousand Guineas and then potentially a Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) tilt at Flemington.
The apparent main danger to a Snowden victory in the Furious Stakes is the Gai Waterhouse-trained More Strawberries.
More Strawberries looked set to appreciate the further trip of Saturday's Furious Stakes as she ran on well into fourth when resuming in the Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m).
The More Than Ready filly is also nominated for the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 13.
