Our Inheritance Can Be Doubled Up Synthetically

Tuesday, 7 September 2010: Our Inheritance has ordinary looking form on paper for his last campaign but he was tackling fields many times superior to anything he will encounter today.

The four-year-old gelding has won two races to date and both came from being in front or on the pace, so he can make his own luck in the running.

Interestingly last spring at Moonee Valley, a type of synthetic track albeit not like the Geelong texture, saw Our Inheritance with blinkers on for the first time lead and bolt away with a Ratings 68 under 57.5kg.

He easily beat Miss Phromilly, which has come back well this year to win a Benchmark 75 at Randwick this season against her own sex and place several times earlier in Ratings 68, 72 and open three-year-old events in July.

The fifth placegetter in the race was The Fugitive, which came back after a spell to win three races in a row for the David Hayes stable including an open three-year-old at Caulfield.

The sixth placegetter was Big Spirit, which has since won four more races and placed numerous times for the in form Rick Hore-Lacy stable.

Even the seventh and last finisher You're Beautiful has since won a Ratings 68 at Sandown-Lakeside for trainer Lee Freedman, so the race is of serious form worth for the lower grades.

Two weeks later saw Our Inheritance finish third in a Ratings 72 over 1200m at Moonee Valley, with the winner Paganini's Soul scoring again since and finishing a close second and is now up at Hong Kong.

The runner up Rachine, won fresh up this autumn in a Ratings 72 at Sandown-Hillside over 1000m.

The fourth and in particular fifth finisher in the race makes for good reading too, with Dorsoduro winning an open three-year-old fillies final at Flemington mid July, while Doubtful Jack has been the find of the year with five wins and a second from six starts this campaign so far.

Our Inheritance would finish fourth to the gifted Doubtful Jack in mid December at Moonee Valley too, with the runner up Mo' Money since resuming having won two out of three and runner up the other time behind the smart We're Gonna Rock.

Take The Rap finished third in the Doubtful Jack win over 1200m at Moonee Valley and has since won at G3 and he too is now in Hong Kong.

The form worth in and around Our Inheritance is phenomenal, when you factor in he will fresh up strike a limited Ratings 68 field and has an experienced senior rider in Steven King aboard.

I do not think Our Inheritance quite came up last campaign, with his three starts disappointing albeit all from bad barriers versus decent opposition.

Bendigo trainer Allen Browell looks to have found the perfect soft kill fresh up for his handy galloper here.

He rates superior in every department and what beats him will win.

Tale Well Told is a clear second rater in the race and the David Hayes trained on pacer has had the benefit of a fresh up run, where he beat one home in a small field here at Geelong Synthetic but was less than a length from the winner.

The extra 200m today is in his favour, as is having drawn the ace, plus last campaign the gelding finished runner up at his second start back then won easily third run back from a spell.

His career best performance came second up two campaigns back in a Ratings 72 for three-year-olds at Sandown-Lakeside, when a meritorious sixth beaten two lengths.

Here are just a few of the names to come out of that particular race and the number of wins recorded since in brackets.

Whiston (five wins), Beltrois (four wins including one at Listed level) and Save A Penny (three wins) to name a quick trio.

Tale Well Told beat home the first and third names that day at Sandown-Lakeside by a length and a half and four and a half lengths respectively, while the middle name was a length and a half ahead of him at the line.

Kapu Star fresh up is a chance on known ability, as the former Colin Little trained galloper performs well in that state, and surprisingly for a son of form sire Galileo he actually shows natural on pacer dash.

He is now in the Bill and Symon Wilde stable at Warrnambool and showed enough last campaign for them to suggest a good spring awaits.

His form tapered off slightly at the end of his last campaign, although a distant third two starts back behind the rising star Moudre does jolt you into doing a from recheck.

Wet tracks are not really his go and his first four runs last campaign recorded two seconds over 1200m and 1230m then two wins at a mile and 1700m.

A soft draw today should see Kapu Star right in this from the outset and his weight will not be an issue having carried 58kg fresh up before into second place at 1200m.

Desert Flare on ratings is in the mix here and is proven already on the Geelong Synthetic, with a win, two fourths and a fifth in four outings here.

Awkward barrier draws have not helped of late and I do feel this mare is best ridden with a sit or cold, as should be the case today looking at the pace drawn inside her.

Nick Hall rides and he has been on the mare once before, with the result a win from the midfield at Echuca over 1200m six starts back.

I think the rise to 1200m today, after recent racing at 1000m and 1100m, will help this mare and at 55kg for a very fit runner that signifies include her in your multiples.

Our Inheritance on known and shown ability looks unbeatable in this, with Tale Well Told and Kapu Star drawn to keep him honest at least until the run home.
