Crystal Lily Spring Campaign In Jeopardy

Tuesday, 7 September 2010:

The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained filly was forced to race tight in the middle stages of the Golden Rose after Squamosa shifted in abruptly approaching the 1000m.

Crystal Lily had to be checked in the process before she tired in the straight to finish 11th.

Prior to a return to the Flemington base of Ellerton and Zahra, Crystal Lily has spent time at the Goulburn Valley Veterinary Clinic at Shepparton where x-rays showed filling in a hock.

The setback will result in Crystal Lily being absent from the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 13 although connections will not entirely rule out the chance of her returning for other races later in the spring.
