Rhumb Line Injury Blow For Tasmanian Trainer
Monday, 20 October 2008: | | Gary White | In a double blow for Brighton trainer Gary White, his promising sprinter Twenty Grand has also been sidelined with a leg problem.
“Rhumb Line has done a suspensory and Twenty Grand has been diagnosed with bone chips in his nearside fetlock,” White said.
“The suspensory is the worst injury and Rhumb Line will be off the scene for about four months.”
Rhumb Line, who suffered his injury during a track gallop, won the $100,000 Benalla Cup at his latest start to give White his biggest success in Victoria.
He planned to run Rhumb Line at Moonee Valley on Saturday followed by the $150,000 Bendigo Cup on November 12 before taking him back to Tasmania to prepare for the Hobart and Launceston Cups in February.
Twenty Grand was being set for the $80,000 Newmarket Handicap at Mowbray on November 30.
White had some good news about his star filly Tempest Tost, a winner at Caulfield in August.
She has recovered from a minor injury and is returning to work for a summer campaign.
``She's fantastic and is coming back to be prepared for a big race in Melbourne in early January,' White said.
“`Her problem wasn't serious, just a bit of cartilage damage.”
Tempest Tost pulled up lame after running sixth at Moonee Valley after winning at Caulfield in August.
