PORT MACQUARIE: Coyle Strikes Again For Patinack Farm
Story By Ken Gentles
Monday, 13 October 2008: | | Jason Coyle | Top Sydney rider Peter Robl made his first appearance at a Port Macquatrie meeting to win on the Coyle-trained stablemates Rollins and Soiled and also finish third on his Port Cup runner Maha Chakri.
Coyle is training a team of more than 20 horses for Patinack Farm's Nathan Tinkler and his father Les, who races many horses under his own Serene Lodge banner.
Rollins is a Patinack horse while Soiled races in the Serene Lodge colours.
“Jason Coyle has really got his team at Newcastle firing on all cylinders for us, his strike rate is exceptional at the moment.” said Rick Connelly, racing manger for Patinack Farm.
The three year old Rollins made it two wins in a row after a Randwick maiden victory at his previous start and could develop into a nice stayer.
The Tinkler's won their own race when Soiled was too classy in the $30,000 Patinack Farm Cup to keep intact a great unbeaten record on the Port Macquarie track.
“We thought they might be a bit too nippy for him over the 1200m but he loves this track and that is four from four at Port Macquarie,” said Connolly.
Gosford trainer Tony Newing also added to his great record at Port Macquarie when Ezerico landed a confident plunge on Port Cup day.
“I love this track. I virtually never leave here without my horses running a place or winning and I will be back.” said Newing, who has eight horses in work at Gosford.
Eripsni, one of Port Macquarie's most promising sprinters, ended a black day for bookmakers with an easy win as an odds on favourite.
She is trained by the astute Jenny Graham, who is confident the mare will win in the city but may now give her a short break before starting another campaign.
“It is just such a great feeling to win a race on your local cup day,” said a beaming Graham.
