Last Saturday stable star Dolphin Jo won the Group 2 Winning Edge Presentation Stakes at Caulfield on his way to another Melbourne Cup assault, while at the annual race meeting at Manangatang Cocojet took out the Macquarie Private Wealth Manangatang Cup.

On Sunday their 5YO mare Ladies In Luck will attempt to go one better than her last start in the Millers Contractors and Plant Hire Horsham Cup (1800m).

In the Murtoa Cup Ladies In Luck found the front in the straight but was pipped at the post by veteran galloper Methodical Boy.

It was so close, even the racecaller and most punters on course had given the race to Ladies In Luck.

“She is certainly going to have a few country cup runs this campaign,” Terry O'Sullivan said.

“If she runs well at Horsham then we'll definitely have a crack at the Werribee Cup.

“I'd like to get her over more distance where I think she'll be at her best.”

By Perugino, Ladies In Luck has had 22 career starts for two wins and eight placings.

The 5YO mare has posted her two wins in midweek company at Sandown-Hillside over 1800m and before her Murtoa Cup placing, Ladies In Luck was second at Sandown-Hillside over 1800m.

They have been her three career starts over 1800m, which bodes well for Sunday at Horsham.

The O'Sullivan's also have 6YO gelding Last Shogun nominated for the Miller Contractors and Plant Hire Horsham Cup.

By Last Tycoon, Last Shogun has had eight wins from 47 starts and been a consistent performer in country cups without snaring one.

Earlier this year he finished third in the Stawell Cup behind stablemate and Country Horse of the Year finalist Free the Robber.

Last Shogun has also picked up a cheque in the country cups at Ararat, Coleraine and Mortlake.

O'Sullivan attributed the recent stable success to having that little bit of luck.

“Having a little bit of luck. That helps a little bit. That is what it comes down to,” O'Sullivan said.

“With Dolphin Jo, the week before they walked mid-race which didn't help him but then there was good speed on Saturday and that made all the difference.

"A little bit of luck certainly makes the job a lot easier.”
