Cup Day Return For 2005 Winner Railings
Wednesday, 15 October 2008: | | Railings | Unfortunately for his connections Railings hasn't seen the winners' stall since.
On Sunday Railings returns to racing from a five-month spell in the $123,000 Listed Seymour Cup, three years on to the day from his Caulfield Cup victory.
He has a different trainer and it will be the first time he has raced on a non-metropolitan track since a fifth at Newcastle in August of 2005.
He has had a long time off but he has shown that he is forward enough in his work, said his current trainer Michael Moroney.
Moroney is the third trainer for Railings, following on from Hawkes in Sydney and Kiwi Roger James, who had the NZ-owned stayer in his Cambridge stable last yar.
We have had a bit of trouble with him so we weren't able to bring him into work until a bit later," Moroney said of the late spring start for Railings.
"His race this weekend will be used as a lead-up to the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington."
Although it has been three years since his last win, Railings has produced some excelelnt form since the 2005 Caulfield Cup.
Most notable were consecutive second place finishes in the G1 BMW at Rosehill in 2006 and 2007.
His career to date stands at 31 starts for seven wins and seven placings and earnings of $3,168,360.
