NSW: Country Racing Awards Finalists Announced

"The quality of the entrants was just outstanding and we’ve come along way when we have community race clubs producing DVD presentations," Judd said.
The winners, covering the 2005-06 year to June 30, will be announced at the presentation dinner at Randwick on Friday October 6.
Major sponsors of the Awards are Pages Event Hire, who will provide $10,000 vouchers for hire equipment for the winners of the TAB Race Club Award, Community Race Club Award, Best Innovation by a Country Club Award and the Award for the Most Popular Feature Race Meeting.
Other prizes include Sky Channel Live Hosting packages courtesy of Sky Channel and grants from the Country Racecourse Development Fund.
Criteria considered in the selection process include sponsorship, attendance, local community involvement, coordination with other local events, TAB turnover, field sizes, prizemoney, quality of customer experience, quality of on-course and off-course presentation, financial returns to the Industry, club trading performance, improvements to customer facilities, improvements to racing and training facilities, reducing costs for participants, introducing new owners, fostering racing in the local area, improving the clubs overall racing or presentation and the number of visiting horses, trainers and jockeys.

TAB Race Club Award: Clarence River Jockey Club; Port Macquarie Race Club; Scone Race Club.
Community Race Club Award: Berrigan Jockey Club; Broken Hill St Patrick’s Race Club; Walcha Jockey Club.
Best Innovation or Improvement by a Country Race Club Award: Adaminaby Jockey Club; Albury Race Club; Lismore Jockey Club.
Most Popular Feature Race Meeting: Albury Race Club – Albury Cup Day; Clarence River Jockey Club – Grafton Cup Day; Gundagai – Adelong Snake Gully Cup Day.

Country Apprentice Jockey Award: Tim Clark; Clint Lundholm; Luke Morgan
Country Jockey Award: Peter Graham; Peter Robl; Greg Ryan.

Simon Nivison Award: As usual the finalists for the Simon Nivison Award are not announced. The winner will be announced at the awards on October 6.
