Keiren Fallon Banned From Arlington Million
Thursday, 10 August 2006: | | Keiren Fallon | Arlington Park stewards rejected a license application by Fallon to ride Aiadan O'Brien's runners Ace in the G1 Arlington Million and Ivan Denisovich in the G1 Secretariat Stakes.
The stewards have followed the lead of the Jockey Club, who have banned Fallon from riding in England until he faces criminal charges in connection with race fixing.
Illinois Racing Board rules stipulate that suspensions in other jurisdictions be honored.
Tthe stewards' made this clear when they issued a statement that said "Mr Fallon's presence on the grounds of any facility under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Racing Board calls into question the honesty and integrity of horse racing due to his current indictment in England of conspiracy to defraud."
Fallon has been free to continue riding in Ireland and France as those countries are supporting the premise that an accused person is innocent until proven guilty.
O'Brien had declared Fallon as the rider of Ace and Ivan Denisovich when fields for the two races were declared on Wednesday.
Fallon won last year's Arlington Million for O'Brien on Powerscourt and was hoping this wouldalso sway stewrads to approve his application.
Fallon is among 11 people including several other jockeys charged by London Police after an investigation into more than 80 races run in England between 2002 and 2004.
The court case will not begin until early next year.
