Count Ricardo Comeback Starts On Sunday

Saturday, 19 August 2006: Placed in the 2004 AAMI Victoria Derby and winner of the Sandown Classic, Count Ricardo is among the entries for this year's Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Prepared by Stephen Theodore, Count Ricardo has not raced since last October when he finished unplaced in the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.

He suffered a leg injury that required a long spell with Theodore confident he can make a successful comeback.

Count Ricardo has won three of his 15 starts while his six placings also include a third in the AAMI Vase and second in the Norman Robinson Stakes.

He resumes in Sunday's S.C.S.A. for Spinal Research Handicap against the interesting Cefalu, a former Chilean galloper prepared by Lee Freedman.

Cefalu is among Freedman's Melbourne Cup entries.
