Some surprises at Deauville
Monday, 15 May 2017: Godolphin's Profitable ran second and Finsbury Square third.
The 1000 Guinease threw up some big numbers when Prescieuse 28/1 won from Son of Grace 8/1 with third going to Heurestque 15/1 with the more fancied runners left chasing the placegetters.
There was one great result when a horse called Le Michodière won the race with the same name!!! Not sure that would have happened very often.
Sunday also had its surprises when Godolphin's Sobetsu (Appleby-Buick) came out of the pack to win the Prix St Alary G1 starting at 20/1, followed by Vue Fantastique 28/1 and then Coronet - not a bad run - followed by Hebah and Gold Luck.
The 2000 Guineas went to the favourite Brametot which was no surprise as he has looked to be a very good horse in the making. He had to fight back though when challenged by Le Brividia and the verdict in the end was a short head. Rivet was 3 lengths further back in third and then 6 lengths back to Spotify in 4th and the rest best not mentioned.
