Kodiac Colt Tops At Tattersalls

Sunday, 7 May 2017: Stephen Hillen purchased the colt for 240,000 guineas from the draft of Knockanglass Stables. He is one of four foals out of the winning Green Desert mare Greenflash, a half sister to six other winners produced by second dam Empress Anna (Imperial Ballet).
Hillen said the colt would go into training with former champion jockey Richard Hughes.
The sale proved to be a successful pinhook for Thomond O’Mara of Knockanglass Stables who purchased the colt for just £28,000 as a yearling.
Three other colts sold for 170,000 guineas, by Dawn Approach, Acclamation, and Lethal Force.
A total of 154 lots sold for an aggregate of 5,502,200 guineas compared to 3,658,300 guineas from 114 lots last year.
The average of 35,729 guineas was also up from 32,090 guineas 12 months ago, while the median rose to 25,000 guineas from 20,000 guineas.
