Death Of Celtic Swing
Sunday, 5 September 2010: | | Celtic Swing | The 18-year-old was put down after suffering an acute bout of colitis.
A Group One winner at two and three, Celtic Swing was still in the ownership of former British Horse Racing Board chairman Peter Savill.
"He was the best horse I've ever had by far and the best I am ever likely to have," Savill told Racing Post.
"He was an absolutely brilliant racehorse."
Celtic Swing, the winner of five of his seven race starts, stood first at the National Stud at Newmarket and shuttled to Swettenham Stud in Victoria for a couple of years where he was mated with Takeover Target's mother Shady Stream.
Takeover Target, who was retired last year after injuring a leg in the July Cup in England, was successful in Australia, England, Singapore and Japan.
Celtic Swing also produced Six Perfections, a multiple Group One winner in France.
After standing the past nine years at the National Stud in Ireland, Celtic Swing was moved to Italy this year.
