Queenslanders Spend Up At South Island Sale
Sunday, 1 August 2010: NZ Bloodstock agent Danny Rolston did the honours for Glen Burrows Bloodstock, who purchased the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes winning mare for a Queensland breeder.
Curraghmore Stud offered Te Akau Coup with a positive pregnancy to exciting young sire Darci Brahma.
Curraghmore Stud finished the day as leading vendor with 12 lots sold for total receipts of $492,000.
Also heading to Queensland is the second highest priced lot, a yearling High Chaparral half-sister to Dorabella and Crusoe. She was knocked down to the connections of Derby winner Shoot Out for $170,000.
The day's proceedings concluded with the hammer falling on 82 lots for an aggregate of $1,206,500 and an average price of $7,834 up 53% on last year.
The median was also up finishing at $5,500 compared to $1800 in 2009.
Clearance for the day rounded off at 77%.
The South Island Sale of 2YOs & Mixed Bloodstock is at the Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch on Friday August 6.
