More Celebrations For Dubawi

Sunday, 29 August 2010: The three-year-old colt, representing Saeed bin Suroor, broke smartly and was immediately settled at the rear of the four runners by Frankie Dettori.

Poet's Voice produced a telling turn of foot to take the lead in a matter of strides and was eased near the line for a comprehensive four and a half length success over Main Aim.

Saeed bin Suroor said: “I am happy with Poet's Voice because he is more relaxed than ever now.

“Frankie gave him a brilliant ride - he was in a nice position throughout the race and Poet's Voice quickened like a Group One horse.”

Dettori commented: “We have always thought a bit of Poet's Voice but he went through a stage when he was very headstrong and was doing everything too quickly.

“He is learning all of the time. His grandfather Dubai Millennium was the same - it took him a bit of time to settle - but Poet's Voice is going the right way now.

“I guess that the next step will be the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.”

Poet's Voice became Dubawi's second stakes winner last year when he won the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

Dubawi has since produced 11 stakes winners worldwide including the brilliant 2000 Guineas winner Makfi, South African G1 winner Happy Archer and the Prix Robert Papin winner Irish Field.

Dubawi is also sire of Italian 2000 Guineas winner Worthaad and has sired more Group winners than any other European stallion at this stage of their career in the last 20 years, ahead of Oasis Dream, Giant's Causeway, Invincible Spirit and Danehill Dancer.

Dubawi, one of just 56 foals from the sole crop by Dubai Millennium, stood the past season at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket.

Poet's Voice is bred on the same Danzig cross as Makfi, being out of the Chief's Crown winner Bright Tiara.

Bright Tiara is a sister to G1 winner and sire Chief Honcho and the dam of five other winners including the multiple Japanese stakes winner Gold Tiara, a daughter of Dubawi's grandsire Seeking The Gold.

Poet's Voice is Godolphin's fourth winner of the Celebration Mile following the successes of Mark Of Esteem (1996), Cape Cross (1999) and Caradak (2006).
