Diktat Colt Wins Prix Morny

Monday, 23 August 2010: The 2YO colt was having only his second start following a convincing win in a Nottingham maiden.

He also was the first G1 winner for his trainer David Simcock.

Bred in the US by the race sponsors Darley, Dream Ahead was sold as a yearling for just $11,000 to Federico Barberini before being resold at the DBS Breeze-Up in April for £36,000 when consigned by Tally-Ho Stud.

Diktat has previously produced dual Group 1-placed Short Skirt - third in the Oaks at Epsom and second in the Yorkshire Oaks - and Formal Decree, second at the top level in Germany and the US.

Diktat began his stud career at Dalham Hall and spent a season at Haras du Logis and two at Darley Japan.

He now stands at Dehesa de Milagro in Spain.

Land Of Dreams, dam of Dream Ahead, won the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster and the King George Stakes at Goodwood.

Dream Ahead is her sixth foal. Her bvest to date had been Listed winner Into The Dark.

She has a filly by Van Nistelrooy in the DBS Premier Yearling Sale which starts on Tuesday.

* MONSUN's star filly STACELITA completed here fourth G1 win to go with her 2009 wins in the Prix St Alary, Prix de Diane and Prix Vermeille when she won the Prix Jean Romanet on Sunday.

She became Monsun first Group 1 winnr of 2010.

The German-bred four-year-old is out Soignee, a stakes winning daughter of Dashing Blade.

* EXCEED AND EXCEL had a smart stakes winner at Deauville on Saturday when his two-year-old Klammer made the journey from his Newmarket base to win a Listed race over 1600m.

The Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained colt won his first two starts at five and six furlongs before finishing fifth in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and third in the G2 Superlative Stakes during Newmarket's July meeting.

Klammer is out of the Darshaan mare Aymara and continued a good run of black type success for the Australian stallion.

Exceed And Excel's two-year-old filly Moonlit Garden was third in the Listed Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh, her third black-type performance on Saturday, a day after his daughter Piccadilly Filly inished third in the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

Exceed And Excel has sired 20 individual juvenile winners in Europe so far this season.
