Aussie Rules In France
Thursday, 19 August 2010: | | Aussie Rules | Owned and bred by one of France's most successful breeders, The Marquesa de Mortalla, Chinese Wall came into the contest the winner of two of her three starts, having proven herself one of France's fastest early season two-year-olds.
Her win here certainly served to embellish that reputation further with the filly toying with her ten rivals in the closing stages to score an impressive three length win.
Chinese Wall becomes the second stakes winner from the first crop of Aussie Rules, whose first crop includes a further two stakes placegetters.
The Henry Candy trained colt Dinkum Diamond, a Listed winner for his sire in May, will look to add further gloss to his sire's record to date when taking on Starspangledbanner in the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes over 1000m at York on Friday.
He will be looking to emulate the feats of Kingsgate Native, who took out the premier sprint as a two-year-old just three years ago.
Aussie Rules' haul of seven individual winners, coupled with his four stakes performers, has made him one of the leading first season sires in Europe this season.
Aussie Rules' first Southern Hemisphere bred yearlings were well received in 2010 and include a $90,000 colt from the Magic Millions that is in training with David Payne.
Aussie Rules will stand the 2010 southern hemisphere breeding season at Coolmore Australia at a bargain fee of $8800
