Brother Derek To Airdrie Stud

Wednesday, 30 July 2008: A GI winner at two and three, Brother Derek (Benchmark--Miss Soft Sell, by Siyah Kalem) will start his stud career in 2009.

A fee is yet to be announcd for the winner of the G1 Hollywood Futurity and G1 Santa Anita derby.

His other wins included the G2 Norfolk Stakes, G2 San Rafael Stakes and G2 Santa Catalina Stakes.

He returned from a 14-month absence to finish second at Hollywood Park in April before retiring with six wins and five placings from 17 starts.

"Brother Derek had brilliance in spades," said Airdrie Stud's Bret Jones.

"He's an outstanding individual that the commercial breeder can really get excited about."
