200 Stakeswinners For Danzig

Monday, 28 July 2008: Danzig, a huge influence worldwide through his champion ire son Danehill, was pensioned from stud duty in 2004.

By Northern Dancer from Pas De Nom (Admiral's Voyage), Danzig ranks third on the all-time sires stakes winners list behind Danehill (349) and recently pensioned Sadler's Wells (298).

Sunday Silence (169) and Storm Cat (166) are fourth and fifth.

Danzig, who stood his entire career in Kentucky at Claiborne Farm, has sired two other stakes winners this year.

Olympic is the third stakes winner and the second by Danzig out of the Mr. Prospector mare Queena.

Queena's progeny include Danzig's successful sire son Brahms who stood in Australia at Lindsay Park Stud.
