Promising Sadler's 2YO Winners For Coolmore
Wednesday, 6 August 2008: | | High Chaparral in his racing days | At Naas on Monday, two-year-old colt Black Bear Island (ex Kasora, by Darshaan) emulated his Champion older brother High Chaparral in winning at his second racecourse appearance.
Black Bear Island had run second on debut but showed the benefits of that experience in romping home by four lengths in this 1400m event.
High Chaparral was also beaten on debut before winning next time out and then going on to carve out a career that included multiple Group 1 wins in England, Ireland and the US before retiring with earnings of $US5.4million.
Aidan O'Brien's burgeoning list of Sadler's Wells winners then grew further overnight when another juvenile colt, Masterofthehorse, scored at Gowran Park.
A full-brother to multiple G1 winner Alexandrova, Masterofthehorse was a beaten favourite on debut at Naas, but atoned in style here with a four and a half lengths win.
This was the same meeting that Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire won at last year.
