My Royal Captain Returns to Winners Circle

Monday, 4 August 2008: It was the Laurie Laxon-trained galloper's first victory since his win in the Gr.1 Patrons Bowl (1400m) in June last year.

Laxon described My Royal Captain (NZ) as a “very good horse at his best” and is aiming the seven-win galloper towards the Gr.1 Singapore Gold Cup over 2200m in November.

“He's a Zabeel and I think the trip of the Singapore Gold Cup will be ideal,” said Laxon.

My Royal Captain (NZ) was one of 11 NZ-bred horses to register success in Singapore this weekend, furnishing the NZ-suffix a 52% winning share of the two-day Kranji meeting.
