Magnier Pays $2M For Storm Cat Colt

Wednesday, 6 August 2008: The average of $295,738 represented a 2.2% rise on the 2007 figures, even though today's second session was down by more than 10% on the corresponding day last year.

Sixty two yearlings sold today for $17.9 million with the clearance rate improving to just under 80%, compared with a figure closer to 70% yesterday.

Coolmore's Michael Magnier secured the day's top lot, a Storm Cat colt from the Mr Prospector mare Get Lucky, a Group 3 winning sister to Champion juvenile and successful sire Rhythm.

The second highest price of the session was $750,000 for a Mr Greeley colt from Arcadiana.
