Friday, 1 August 2008: Marking a defining point in his stud career, the outstanding son of Last Tycoon has claimed the titles of Champion New Zealand Sire, and Champion New Zealand-based Sire by combined earnings in Australia and New Zealand, effectively crowning him as the Dewar Stallion Award winner.

O'Reilly has ended a six-year strangle hold on the general sires' premiership held by Windsor Park Stud stallion Volksraad, and a remarkable twelve consecutive Dewar Award titles held by Cambridge Stud supersire Zabeel.

Playing a part in their sires' success this season has been the dual Gr.1 performances of Alamosa and the G1 Caulfield Cup glory of Master O'Reilly.

Completing the stellar season, O'Reilly was similarly to the fore in Hong Kong and was crowned Hong Kong's Champion Sire. In Australia he finished in the top-ten on the general sires' premiership.
