SuperTAB Links To New Zealand Race Pools
Tuesday, 19 February 2008: Tabcorp has confirmed that Victorian regulatory approval has been gained for the pooling of SuperTAB and New Zealand Racing Board bets on New Zealand racing.
The co-mingling will cover win, place and quinella bets on New Zealand thoroughbred, harness and greyhound races covered by SuperTAB and Sky Channel.
Punters betting though SuperTAB in Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and the ACT will bet into the bigger New Zealand TAB pool on New Zealand races.
Victorian racing will benefit as each code will share in the proceeds of TAB wagering on all races no matter where they are run.
New Zealand Racing Board Chief Executive Graeme Hansen said: “The alliance between the New Zealand Racing Board and Tabcorp on co-mingling has been highly successful, and it is now time to build on what is already in place.”
A co-mingling trial on New Zealand races will begin with the Hastings meeting on Thursday.
The pooling of New Zealand Racing Board bets on Australian racing into the SuperTAB pool has been in place since June 2007.
Bets placed with the New Zealand TAB on co-mingled races have added more than $175 million to the SuperTAB pool.
