ROCKHAMPTON: Weather Plays Havoc With Race Meetings

Monday, 18 February 2008: The race meeting set down for Rockhampton on Tuesday has been transferred to Thursday to take advantage of the vacancy created by the Mackay cancellation.

Stakeholders are advised to review the fields for Rockhampton, with significant alterations to Races 6, 7 and 8.

Races 7 and 8 have been reduced from 1400m to 1300m and due to the fact that the 1000m races will now be started on the course proper, Race 6 now comprises 10 starters and 3 emergencies.

The weather in Rockhampton over the next few days will dictate the fate of Thursday's meeting.

Queensland Racing understands the importance of this meeting to local stakeholders and will work with the Rockhampton Jockey Club to provide the best possible chance of proceeding.

Unfortunately, the huge volume of rain received in Mackay over the last week did not provide any opportunity for the meeting to proceed or enable consideration to be given to a transfer.

Townsville Stewards will inspect Cluden Park at 12 noon on Tuesday to determine the fate of Wednesday's meeting.
