The Lee Freedman-trained galloper hasn't raced since the 2006 Cox Plate where he ran a two-length fifth behind Fields Of Omagh.

Following that race he was to have contested the Melbourne Cup but broke down with a fetlock injury.

After a long recuperation he returned to work but again succumbed to injury with ligament damage.

Freedman said he was happy with the way the seven-year-old is going although did say he would certainly need Saturday's run being big in condition.

The leading trainer said there were no grand plans for Our Smoking Joe and was happy to take it day by day with the Group 2 winner.
