Awkward Plate Draw For Weekend Hussler

Weekend Hussler, a dominant Oakleigh Plate favourite, came up with gate 10 in a final field 14 for the Group One dash over 1100m.

Mentality, also entered for the Expressway takes in Sydney on Saturday, will carry topweight of 57kg from gate seven.

Trainer John Hawkes, who last won the race in 2000 with Sports, has booked last year's winning jockey Steven Arnold to ride Mentality.

Last year's third placegetter Magnus, to be ridden by Damien Oliver, is drawn to suit in gate four with La Chasseuse (James Winks) in the rails barrier.

Sydney-trained Typhoon Zed, the first Melbourne ride for young Sydney jockey Tim Clark, has drawn poorly in gate 12 while Lee Freedman had no luck with his two runners Here de Angels (Corey Brown) and Royal Asscher (Craig Williams) to start on the outside from gates 14 and 13.
